At BC Women’s Business Network, we believe early-stage entrepreneurs deserve encouragement, visibility, and recognition for the courage it takes to build something from the ground up. The Emerging Entrepreneur Award exists to honour women who are taking steps creating successful, sustainable businesses while investing in their growth. By recognizing these women, we celebrate the future of women’s entrepreneurship.

Celebrating the Next Generation of Women Business Leaders

The Emerging Entrepreneur Award recognizes a woman in the early stages of business who demonstrates vision, resilience, leadership, and strong potential for future growth.

This award honours women entrepreneurs who are building their businesses with courage, determination, and purpose while creating momentum through innovation, learning, and strategic action.

The Emerging Entrepreneur Award celebrates women who are laying strong foundations for long-term success and showing exceptional promise as future leaders in business.

Award Purpose

The purpose of this award is to recognize and celebrate emerging women entrepreneurs who are demonstrating initiative, commitment, and growth potential in the early stages of business.

This award highlights women who are building with intention, overcoming challenges, investing in their development, and creating meaningful progress in their entrepreneurial journey.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, nominees must:

Be a woman entrepreneur or business owner
Have operated their business for less than 3 years
Demonstrate a clear business vision and direction
Show traction through clients, revenue, partnerships, visibility, or growth
Demonstrate commitment to learning, development, and business growth
Exhibit leadership qualities, resilience, and professionalism
Have attended a BCWBN meeting from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026

What This Award Recognizes

This award may recognize women who:

Have launched and established a new business
Demonstrate innovation, creativity, and initiative
Show strong potential for long-term success
Are actively investing in mentorship, education, or personal growth
Have achieved meaningful early business milestones
Demonstrate perseverance through challenges and obstacles
Build relationships and collaborate within their community
Lead with passion, integrity, and vision

This award values growth potential, determination, leadership, and foundation-building over business size or years of experience.

Who Can Nominate?

Nominations are open to clients, colleagues, business peers, community members, mentors, and BCWBN members.

Individuals may nominate:

An emerging woman entrepreneur
A new business owner
A BCWBN member
Or themselves

Self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged.

Selection Process

The Emerging Entrepreneur Award is peer-reviewed.

Nominations are reviewed by a selected panel using the award criteria, application responses, and supporting materials.

The review process focuses on:

Vision and business potential
Demonstrated traction and progress
Leadership qualities and resilience
Commitment to growth and learning
Professionalism and community contribution
Alignment with values-driven entrepreneurship

This is not a public voting or popularity-based award.

The intention is to recognize women who are building strong foundations and demonstrating exceptional promise in the early stages of business.
