Why should you re-evaluate your goals regularly?

I am a list person. I have lists all over the place, but my main problem is finding them again. I do really like writing them though, cause I LOVE to cross things off. What a sense of accomplishment that gives us.

So what happens when I have accomplished something, and find my list to cross it off, and realize that things have changed a little? It is super common for us to create goals based on information we had at the time, and then find that either those goals aren't working as we would like, or maybe our destination has changed slightly. IT'S OKAY!

We need to know that creating goals that are more than three months away is very likely to change. What we know in three months may give us a totally different perspective, and that is why we need to regularly revisit and re-evaluate the goals we have set. Your most important goal should be to take time every three months or so to go over where you are headed and if the short-term goals you have set for yourself are getting you there. Be flexible. Don't assume that once you have set your goals that you have to keep them. Things change (look at how Covid changed things), and sometimes we need to pivot. For a lot of businesses during Covid, a goal of opening a brick and mortar location switched very quickly to creating an online presence and platform. Changing goals isn't a defeat, it is strategic.

So set goals. Long-term goals that are broken down into short-term goals, but evaluate regularly to ensure you are still working towards what is best.
